Empowerment Coaching & Counseling
What is Empowerment Therapy?
Empowerment therapy takes place in a group setting, with groups that are often comprised of 6-10 people. The groups meet on a regular basis within a specific time period and are facilitated by one or more trained facilitators who aids the group through the process of discussing the issues that are concerning them the most. Often, groups will be comprised of individuals who are facing the same challenges. This allows the groups members to help one another find solutions as they increase their understanding of their issues while also learning to better interact with others. Group members often feel more comfortable talking about their issues when they have a sense that the other members truly understand what they are facing since they are facing something similar.
Why Empowerment Group Therapy works?
In a setting where individuals are allowed to interact freely with no fear of judgment, they are often able to recreate or put into words the patterns that have caused problems in their lives. The group setting allows for a safe environment where one is allowed to express themselves and learn from the expressions of others. What a person may not have learned from their own experiences can often be learned from bearing witness to the experiences of others. It is not only encouraging to hear that you are not alone in your circumstances, but it is also encouraging to witness others overcoming similar obstacles as the ones you are facing.
